Lutron Introduces the Triathlon Select Roller Shade — A Breakthrough in Smart Shading for AV Professionals

With simplified quoting and design choices – and a more affordable price point – it has never been easier to add Lutron automated shades to a project.

Coopersburg, PA, October 30, 2024 - Lutron Electronics, the trusted leader in lighting control systems, automated window shades, and architectural lighting, is pleased to announce the launch of Triathlon select roller shades – a shading revolution that gets integrators into the shading business (and making money) quickly and easily. With a fixed pricing structure, simplified design decisions, and a “goofproof” measuring tool, Triathlon select roller shades provide a great opportunity to include smart shade automation on every job.

Streamlined Choices with a Powerful Result

  • Shades up to 48” x 80” are priced at $599 MSRP, offering a more price-competitive motorized alternative to manual shades.
  • Homeowners can choose between light-filtering and blackout options in two popular fabric colors: white and gray.
  • The low-profile, open-roll bracket style easily blends with almost any décor.
  • Shades are (D-cell) battery-powered with an approximate two-year battery life.
  • And a new measuring tool makes shade measurements foolproof.

“Lutron has long been the leader in automated shades for the custom integrator who works on luxury homes,” said Joe Guellnitz, Director, Product Management at Lutron Electronics. “With this new price point, and an approximate installation time of 15 minutes, the Triathlon select shade is going to expand the Lutron shades experience to millions of homes across North America. And it’s going to help professionals add meaningful revenue and profit to their businesses.”

Innovation in the process

To measure, use a standard tape measure or the Lutron precision tool (sold separately for $270 MSRP) which serves as a template for installing the shades. In a first-of-its-kind move, Triathlon select smart roller shades feature fixed pricing for shades up to 48” wide. As a result, quoting takes just minutes; simply count the windows and multiply by one price.

“The biggest advantage to dealers is the Triathlon select quoting process,” said Anthony Firmani, President at Structured Resources Inc., an AV professional based in Pennsylvania. “Going out to the home, measuring the windows, showing a ton of different fabrics, waiting for the homeowner to choose, then building a quote with software – that’s all gone. Just count the windows and give them a price on the spot.”

The most connected smart shades

Triathlon select smart shades can be controlled with a Lutron Pico remote, but they offer even greater functionality when they're part of a Lutron system. Adding a Lutron smart hub enables functions like voice control, scheduling, and third- party integration.

Triathlon select smart shades also work in Lutron Caséta, RadioRA, and HomeWorks systems, and integrate seamlessly with more smart home brands (including Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant) than any other smart shade on the market as well as professional whole-home systems.

Triathlon select roller shades are available now through AV distributors, electrical wholesalers, and Lutron dealers throughout the US and Canada with an estimated two week or less delivery time.
